Hi, I’m Ellie Finnerty – a singer/songwriter/guitarist, originally from Devon, UK.
If I had to narrow it down to two things that drive me, it would be my love of performing and travelling; and knew I’d regret it forever if I never attempted to build a life that had those two things at its core.
After failing to get into Drama School at the age of eighteen, I left Sixth Form College with my A Levels and a determination to see what the world outside of Devon had to offer. I took a “gap year” working as a Holiday Rep in Kos, Greece. Safe to say I wasn’t cut out for handling complaints and selling excursions! But there, I watched the Entertainment Team perform the evening shows and quickly decided that up on stage was where I wanted to be. Skip ahead six months and I was working as a Production Vocalist for tedgroup in Holiday Village Tenerife, where I learnt how to dance, how to present confidently on a microphone and had the best time making memories abroad.
One more “gap year” wouldn’t hurt… right?

When Covid struck in 2020, and the options to travel and sing as part of a production cast became limited, I found myself returning to my acoustic guitar. It had been a Christmas present as a teenager, and something I had picked up now and then, writing the odd song here and there, and playing it in public infrequently.
I started uploading videos online of covers and my original songs. One morning in July 2020, I woke up to find that a song I had written about a holiday romance had been viewed 200,000+ times on TikTok… with the figures increasing by the minute! (The video now stands at almost half a million views). This song 'Six Pound Forty' became my first ever single, released in May 2021, and praised by Rivera FM DJ Jack Juniper for being “absolutely incredible”. I followed this up with the release of three singles in 2022, ‘Those Nights (The Cliff Song)’, ‘Screen’ and ‘Home’, which have been supported by BBC Music Introducing.

Over the years I have continued to work full-time as a performer in various forms; as a production cast member in hotels across Europe, a Theatre Practitioner for Cornwall’s Rogue Theatre, a Guest Entertainer for Royal Caribbean and now as an independent singer/songwriter. All of these experiences have enriched my life invaluably and given me a strong work-ethic and skillset. When I’m not working away on contracts, I am based in Devon gigging at festivals and events around the UK.
Above all else, writing and performing original material is what excites me most. I write from personal experience and have found that this is what connects best with audiences. Six “gap years” along and I am more passionate than ever about my life and cannot wait to continue this journey filled with adventure and music.
